Launched as a coal port to transport coal from the mines along the Albert Canal, Haven Genk went on to become a trimodal terminal (road-rail-water) after the coal mines closed down.
There are currently 70 employees at Haven Genk and we offer an extended range of services for the storage, transport and handling of containers, bulk goods, conventional cargo and steel products. As one of the largest Belgian inland terminals we are an essential link from Limburg for trimodal transport by road, rail and water. Our efforts are focused on three aspects: Barge Terminal, Rail Terminal and Conventional Cargo & Break Bulk. Haven Genk is also equipped with the necessary infrastructure for the storage and transhipment of goods.
Haven Genk is also keen to continue adding value for its customers in the future. We’ll do that by reinforcing our position as a logistics partner with a unique and ingenious offer and high-quality service. Our location in the hinterland is a real bonus in that respect.
This makes it possible to avoid the pressure of the large ports and we can more easily give our customers a tailored service by perfectly aligning the transport by water, rail and road. Using our water and rail transport we avoid the congested roads. That increases the punctuality of our customers’ deliveries, as well as improving efficiency. Another advantage is that, by reducing carbon emissions, we contribute significantly to sustainable transport solutions.
