The logistics sector in Limburg is in full development and Haven Genk plays an important role in this, due to its unique benefits in terms of location, modern infrastructure and multi-modal opportunities. Following our transformation from coal port to trimodal terminal we have become one of Belgium’s largest inland terminals. Located along the Albert Canal in Genk and with a rail connection, Haven Genk provides sustainable solutions and added-value services to customers in diverse sectors.
Launched as a coal port to transport coal from the mines along the Albert Canal, Haven Genk went on to become a trimodal terminal (road-rail-water) after the coal mines closed down.
There are currently 70 employees at Haven Genk and we offer an extended range of services for the storage, transport and handling of containers, bulk goods, conventional cargo and steel products. As one of the largest Belgian inland terminals we are an essential link from Limburg for trimodal transport by road, rail and water. Our efforts are focused on three aspects: Barge Terminal, Rail Terminal and Conventional Cargo & Break Bulk. Haven Genk is also equipped with the necessary infrastructure for the storage and transhipment of goods.
Aperam and Group Machiels have been shareholders of Haven Genk since 1997. They are focused on making maximum use of all growth opportunities and continue to invest in developing the trimodal terminal.
